Experience the intimate, powerful, and genre-defying, Fanm d’Ayiti (Women of Haiti): A celebration of heritage, resilience and the enduring power of women’s voices. This all-day event marks the first appearance for the Bay Area live performance.
Fanm d’Ayiti features Grammy-nominated flutist, vocalist, and composer Nathalie Joachim, who honors the stories of Haitian women — past and present — through radiant song, folk tradition and contemporary chamber music. Joachim will be joined by a string quartet from Decoda, Carnegie Hall’s affiliate ensemble co-founded by Noe Music’s artistic directors Owen Dalby and Meena Bhasin.

KQED Live joins Acción Latina to present two local Latinx musical acts centering women’s voices at Acción Latina’s backyard patio Encuentrito Sessions mini-concert series. The event is presented as part of Paseo Artístico – a collaborative effort among Calle 24 Latino Cultural District-affiliated cultural arts organizations that offers free arts programming every other second Saturday of the month.

This Filipina American-led music collective takes you on a lyrical journey with roots in soul, jazz, blues and improvisation. Free Press’ sound was largely developed in San Francisco, in the Western Addition and Tenderloin; specifically the Cadillac Hotel . The performance features vocals from Christie Aida, Dave Mihaly on percussion, Fernando Rodriguez on guitar and bass and Alex Spoto on violin.
“Directions in Sound, CAAMFest’s fresh music showcase, returns once more to the SOMA Pilipinas Filipino Heritage District for a renewed collaboration with the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival. Taking over the stage is Thảo Nguyễn aka Thao—San Francisco’s own artist, songwriter, touring musician and producer originally from Northern Virginia.”
